Natural Ice Waterfall Gallery
The winter's bitter cold freezes the rushing waterfall into a majestic ice sculpture. Layer upon layer of ice curtains, cascades, and stalactites cascade down from the basalt cliffs dozens of meters high, resembling jade-carved draperies or frozen waves, glistening with a cold radiance under the sky. Unfrozen water still surges through the ice crevices, plunging into the dark depths of Heilong Pool below, stirring up misty vapors that create a striking contrast between the waterfall's dynamic flow and the ice's serene stillness.
The trees on the cliff edge are adorned with frost, wrapped in silver attire, creating a striking contrast with the frozen waterfall. As dusk deepens, a crescent moon hangs in the pale purple sky, and the icefall appears even more sacred under the cool moonlight. This natural masterpiece, sculpted by volcanic lava and northern cold, vividly embodies the grandeur and ethereal beauty of "a frozen cascade hanging a thousand feet high, reflecting the moon's disk in a chilly pool."

In the depths of winter, the Diaoshuilou Waterfall of Jingpo Lake transforms into a rare spectacle: a basalt ice waterfall. The once-torrential flow is frozen solid by the bitter cold, creating a breathtaking scene where ice pillars, curtains, and ridges interlace across the hundred-meter cliff face, resembling a jade-carved palace or a glacial sanctuary. Sunlight pierces through, casting an ethereal blue glow on the ice, contrasting beautifully with the unfrozen Black Dragon Pool below. Rising mist crystallizes into frost-covered branches, painting a dreamlike landscape. Here, movement and stillness coexist, fire and ice merge—an epic of snow and ice sculpted by time and winter’s relentless hand.

The cold wind howls, and frozen waterfalls hang high as a brave soul takes a leap, staging the most thrilling spectacle of winter at Jingpo Lake. The performer jumps gracefully from a cliff of ice dozens of meters high, stretching their body like an eagle spreading its wings, slicing through the frigid sky before landing steadily in the icy depths. Amid the splashing waves, courage and daring are on full display—their fearless spirit of challenging limits and defying the cold adds a touch of passion and legend to the majestic ice waterfall, creating a uniquely awe-inspiring winter scene exclusive to Jingpo Lake.

The Diaoshuilou Waterfall at Jingpo Lake has transformed from its summer torrential momentum into a magnificent spectacle of ice cascades. The flowing water solidifies in the extreme cold, with layers of ice curtains, icicles, and ice stalactites hanging from the cliffs—crystal clear, like jade carvings and towers standing by the Black Stone Pool. The frozen waterfall remains dynamic in its stillness, with mist and chill intertwining, shimmering brilliantly under sunlight, grand and majestic, showcasing the awe-inspiring beauty of winter in northern China. It has become the most breathtaking natural attraction of Jingpo Lake in winter.

In the winter season, cold-water swimming enthusiasts compete and frolic beneath natural ice waterfalls, adding a touch of joy to the tranquil winter scenery of Jingpo Lake. While the lake is frozen over for miles, the Black Dragon Pool remains an oasis of flowing water, becoming the most extraordinary winter secret in the northern lands. Formed by the collapse of volcanic lava, this deep pool spans nearly 100 meters in diameter and plunges over 30 meters deep, surrounded on three sides by steep, jet-black basalt cliffs. The suspended Diaoshuilou Waterfall atop the cliffs has solidified into towering ice cascades, adorned with layers of ice curtains, drapes, and stalactites resembling intricate jade carvings that gleam coldly under the sunlight. Yet, thanks to geothermal heat from underground lava fissures, the pool's water maintains a constant temperature of 8–10°C, unfrozen and flowing amidst the snowy landscape. At dawn and dusk, mist rises from the pool's surface, intertwining with icy cliffs and frost-covered trees, enveloping the Black Dragon Pool in an ethereal haze. The deep emerald waters reflect the silver radiance of the ice falls—still as a mirror, rippling gently—creating a striking contrast with the frozen surroundings. It embodies the poetic beauty of "a thousand feet of hanging ice, a single warm pool in the cold." This is the heart of Jingpo Lake in winter, where ice and fire, stillness and motion, frigid cold and vibrant life coexist. Every wisp of mist, every inch of ice, whispers the wonders of volcanic geology and the ultimate romance of a northern winter.
