On May 19, 2018, the Management Committee of Jingpohu Lake UNESCO Global Geopark and Mudanjiang Ninth Middle School jointly organized a geoscience popularization research activity. With the theme of "Protecting Geological Heritage and Cherishing Earth's Resources," the event provided students with an enjoyable and educational geoscience knowledge research tour. It allowed them to deeply appreciate the magnificent "past and present" of Jingpohu's volcanic crater and the "awe-inspiring wonder" of its volcanic lava tunnels.

On the morning of the 19th,52a group of seventh and eighth-grade students visited various typical geological heritage sites at the Volcanic Crater Scenic Area of Jingpohu Lake Global Geopark. Liu Zhansen, from the Land Resources and Environmental Protection Bureau of Jingpohu Lake Management Committee, provided on-site explanations to the teachers and students about the characteristics of the volcanic crater forest's secondary volcanic cones, the formation of volcanic dammed lakes, the distinctive features of volcanic lava tunnels, and the connection between volcanoes and people's daily lives. During the activity, the students listened to the explanations while observing various micro-landforms of volcanic lava firsthand. They also learned about the population distribution and classification of natural flora and fauna resources at Jingpohu, fostering their love for nature and enhancing their understanding of volcanic geology and landforms, as well as their environmental awareness.

This geological science outreach activity aims to popularize and promote earth science knowledge to the public, helping people understand the relationship between themselves and the environment, ensuring sustainable socio-economic and cultural development, and guiding people to protect geological heritage and live in harmony with nature.
