Symposium on the Red Culture of the Jingpo Lake Anti-Japanese Allied Forces Relics Held at Jingpo Lake

At 9:00 AM on July 10, 2019, the Symposium on the Red Culture of the Jingpohu Lake Anti-Japanese Allied Forces Relics was held at Jingpohu. Eighty-eight scholars and experts from 37 universities and research institutions across the country participated in a day-long discussion on the red culture of the Jingpohu Lake Anti-Japanese Allied Forces Relics. The symposium was chaired by Professor Li Hongguang, Deputy Director of the China Anti-Japanese Allied Forces Research Center. Sun Dezhi, Deputy Party Secretary and Director of the Jingpohu Lake Management Committee, delivered the welcome speech. Ye An, Director of the Bayi Spirit Research Center at Jiangxi Science and Technology Normal University; Ren Xueling from the Key Research Base of Humanities and Social Sciences at Yan'an University, Ministry of Education; and Li Xiaowu, Party Branch Secretary of the School of Marxism at Pingdingshan University, summarized the experiences of developing and protecting red relics in Jiangxi, Yan'an, and the Central Plains regions, respectively. They also provided opinions and suggestions on the development of red tourism at Jingpohu Lake based on their regional contexts.

Jingpohu Lake served as a crucial battleground for the military and civilians of Northeast China in resisting Japanese invaders, with footprints of the Northeast Anti-Japanese United Army scattered across its shores. The chain of battles at Jingpohu Lake (Lianhua Pao) unfolded here, and the renowned anti-Japanese commander Chen Hanzhang, known as the "Hero of Jingpohu," who led the Third Front Army of the First Route of the Northeast Anti-Japanese United Army, sacrificed his life by the lake. Additionally, the area includes historic battle sites such as the Jingpohu Lake Hydropower Station, once attacked by the Northeast Anti-Japanese United Army, and the Gao Gang Lumber Operations run by Japanese merchant Saito at Beihutou. Jingpohu Lake Scenic Area boasts abundant and highly representative red cultural resources, reflecting the arduous and heroic resistance journey of the people in the Jidong Anti-Japanese Base Area. By deeply exploring, developing, protecting, and utilizing the red cultural resources within and around the Jingpohu Lake tourism zone, and leveraging both the natural scenic resources—its lush mountains, clear waters, and snowy landscapes—and its red cultural heritage, we can implement the spirit of the Mudanjiang Municipal Government's initiative to build a "City of Red Culture in Northern China" while also promoting tourism development at Jingpohu.

This seminar provided theoretical support for the study of the red cultural heritage of the Jingpohu Lake Anti-Japanese Alliance, promoting the Jingpohu Lake Anti-Japanese Alliance culture and delving deeper into its red cultural significance. It aims to integrate red tourism with other tourism products such as sightseeing, cultural tourism, and leisure vacations, forming diverse composite tourism products and routes centered around red tourism. This will enhance the attractiveness and competitiveness of the Jingpohu Lake scenic area, driving its development to a new level.
