Xi Jinping pointed out that we are about to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the signing of the China-Russia Treaty of Good-Neighborliness and Friendship and Cooperation. The treaty’s vision of everlasting friendship between the two countries serves the fundamental interests of both sides and the theme of peace and development of our times, and is a vivid practice of building a new type of international relations and a community with a shared future for mankind. The China-Russia relationship today is mature, stable and solid, and stands the test of any volatile situation in the international landscape. We firmly support each other on issues concerning each other’s core interests, and our strategic coordination is productive and robust in safeguarding our common interests. Our practical cooperation has delivered fruitful outcomes, with both quality and quantity being steadily enhanced. We have closely coordinated and collaborated in international affairs, and jointly upheld true multilateralism and international fairness and justice. At a time when the world has entered a period of turbulence and transformation and human development faces multiple crises, the close cooperation between China and Russia has lent positive energy to the international community and set a good example for a new type of international relations. We should take a full review of the successful experience in keeping the China-Russia relationship on the right course and maintaining its strong momentum, set out top-level designs for new goals and tasks of cooperation across the board, and enrich the China-Russia Treaty of Good-Neighborliness and Friendship and Cooperation with new dimensions of the era. I believe that guided by the treaty, China and Russia will continue to forge ahead together with confidence and resolve no matter how many steep hills and dangerous passes there may be ahead.
Putin warmly congratulated the Communist Party of China on its 100th anniversary, stating that Russia cherishes the historical exchanges with the CPC and is willing to strengthen inter-party ties with the CPC. He wished for new achievements in China's economic and social development under the leadership of the CPC and for China to play an even more significant role in international affairs.
Putin stated that the Treaty of Good-Neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation between Russia and China reflects the aspiration of the two peoples for everlasting friendship, and the principles and spirit established in the Treaty have played an important and unique role in the long-term and smooth development of Russia-China relations. Russia is satisfied with the current unprecedented high level of bilateral relations and the comprehensive and steady progress in cooperation between the two countries. Today, we announced the issuance of a joint statement and formally decided to extend the Treaty of Good-Neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation between Russia and China, which will lay a more solid foundation for the long-term development of Russia-China relations. Russia is willing to continue deepening strategic mutual trust and close strategic coordination with China, firmly supporting each other's efforts to safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity, respecting each other's chosen systems and development paths, deepening practical cooperation and people-to-people exchanges, strengthening coordination and collaboration in international affairs, and elevating the Russia-China comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination for the new era to a higher level.
Xi Jinping thanked Putin and various sectors in Russia for their congratulations and support extended through various means on the occasion of the centenary of the Communist Party of China. Xi Jinping emphasized that China firmly supports Russia's strong measures to safeguard long-term stability and security of the country and firmly supports Russia in handling its own affairs well.
