The silver-clad Jingpohu Lake and the enchanting Black Dragon Pool. On December 18th, the 2022 China Jingpohu Lake Open Water Swimming Challenge, hosted by the Municipal People's Government, organized by the Jingpohu Lake Management Committee and the Municipal Sports Bureau, and co-organized by the Mudanjiang State-Owned Jingpohu Lake Tourism Group, kicked off in the Jingpohu Lake Scenic Area. Over 200 participants from 15 teams across the city braved the cold and gathered at the Black Dragon Pool beneath the Diaoshuilou Waterfall, thoroughly enjoying the thrill of challenging themselves.

In the depths of winter, the Diaoshuilou Waterfall in the Jingpohu Lake Scenic Area no longer roars with its usual torrential flow but instead presents a spectacular ice cascade hundreds of meters wide. Beneath the ice cascade, the Black Dragon Pool is shrouded in mist, serene and breathtakingly beautiful. On the day of the event, the winter swimmers raced fiercely in the Black Dragon Pool, drawing cheers and applause from numerous photographers and tourists. "It's exhilarating to participate in winter swimming here for the first time. Although the temperature is below minus ten degrees Celsius, the water in the Black Dragon Pool reaches about 11°C to 12°C, making it perfect for winter swimming," said participant Chuo Pengbin. As a national sports tourism demonstration base, the area not only boasts stunning scenery but also excellent infrastructure, welcoming winter swimming enthusiasts from across the nation and around the world to experience this sport at the beautiful Jingpohu. The competition ultimately awarded the top three in the men's and women's individual categories as well as the top three teams.

It is reported that the Jingpohu Lake Scenic Area will seize the opportunity of being designated as a national sports tourism demonstration base to fully leverage its resource, platform, cultural, and brand advantages. The area will prepare for various sports events and cultural tourism activities, providing professional training facilities and services for sports teams at national, provincial, and municipal levels. Additionally, it will promote the widespread development of public fitness activities in the city, meeting the growing demand for sports tourism and making greater contributions to the rapid advancement of sports tourism.
