On May 19, the Arxan UNESCO Global Geopark was officially inaugurated. In May 2017, with the approval of UNESCO, Arxan Geopark became the "Arxan UNESCO Global Geopark" and joined the Global Geoparks Network.

At the unveiling ceremony, Xu Jing, a researcher from the Geological Heritage and Geoparks Management Office of the Protected Areas Department of the National Forestry and Grassland Administration, read out the UNESCO approval document regarding the application for the Arxan UNESCO Global Geopark.

Meanwhile, the UNESCO Ecological and Earth Sciences Division sent a letter expressing its hope that the Arxan Global Geopark would strengthen unified management of the park, enhance the protection of geological relics, and increase exchanges and cooperation with other global geoparks at regional, national, and global levels.

After the plaque unveiling ceremony, Arxan City also held a seminar on the construction and development of the geopark to further promote the UNESCO Global Geopark development concept, deepen cooperation and exchanges among geoparks, and advance the construction of Arxan Global Geopark along with local economic development.
