The Star Lake Scenic and Historical Site is located in Zhaoqing City, Guangdong Province. It was approved as one of the first national key scenic spots by the State Council in 1982. It is divided into two areas: Qixingyan and Dinghu Mountain. The total area is 19.527 square kilometers. It has always been a window and a tourism card for Guangdong. The Qixingyan area includes Qixingyan, Xinghu National Wetland Park, and Xinghu Greenway. The Dinghu Mountain area includes Dinghu Mountain.
The total area of the Qixingyan section is 8.227 square kilometers, belonging to the karst landform. The main landscapes include peak clusters, caves, lakes, inscriptions, and Taoist temples, with beautiful scenery, known as "the fairyland on earth" and "the first wonder of Lingnan". It has been a tourist attraction since the Sui and Tang dynasties.
The Dinghu Mountain area covers an area of 11.3 square kilometers, featuring a primary secondary forest with abundant vegetation, and is characterized by forests and waterfalls. It is the first nature reserve in China and the "Man and Biosphere" positioning research station of UNESCO. It is hailed as "an oasis on the Tropic of Cancer", "a living natural museum" and "a natural oxygen bar".
The Star Lake National Wetland Park is located within the Qixingyan scenic area, consisting of karst, lakes, and shallow beaches, and has become the "lungs" of Zhaoqing's city. It is centered around the Fairy Lake, with more than 20 small islands such as the Flamingo Island, the Red-crowned Crane Island, and the Wild Heron Island scattered like pearls on the clear lake surface. Among the 163 species of birds, including the flamingo and the great egret, the successful establishment of the red-crowned crane, which lives in the north, has become the largest wild breeding base for the red-crowned crane in southern China. The "Lying Buddha Holding a丹", the "No Shadow When Inserting a Stick" at the summer solstice, and the "Moon Hanging Low" at the winter solstice are all gathered here. In 2015, it was rated as one of the "Most Beautiful Wetland Parks in China".
The Xinghu Greenway is the starting point of the Guangdong Greenway No.1 line, starting from the Zhaoqing Bo Hai Park, surrounding the "first wonder of Lingnan", the Qixing Rock scenic area, connecting the Bo Hai Park, the Yuan Yue Lake Park, the Xinghu Bay Park, the Paifang Park and the Qixing Rock Paifang Square, the East Gate Square and the North Gate Square, with a total length of about 20 kilometers. The greenway is lined with green trees and flowers, with picturesque scenery. Walking through it, you can enjoy the classic beauty such as the dots of boats, the flight of cranes, and the sleeping Buddha with a red flower, and it has won the reputation of "the most beautiful greenway in China".
On December 16, 2025, the inspection team conducted a full-day field visit to Zhaoqing Xinghu Scenic Area. They visited Dinghu Mountain, which is famous for its forest ecology and Buddhist culture, and the Qixingyan Scenic Area, which is famous for its interlaced lakes and rocks and picturesque scenery. It gained a comprehensive understanding of Xinghu’s advanced practices in landscape protection, cultural heritage, cultural tourism integration, and smart scenic spot construction. After the inspection, a formal signing ceremony was held between jingpo Lake Scenic Area and Zhaoqing Xinghu Scenic Area Administration Bureau. The two parties solemnly announced the establishment of a "sister lake" and promised to carry out in-depth cooperation in the fields of resource protection, management experience exchange, market interaction, personnel training and brand co-building in the future.
