In the winter of the northern country, the land is blanketed in silver. On January 18th, the "Ice and Snow World, Dragon Horse Spirit" Ice Running Super (2025-2026) • 4th Jingpohu Lake International Ice Running Challenge, organized by the Heilongjiang Provincial Sports Bureau and the Mudanjiang Municipal People's Government, and hosted by the Heilongjiang Provincial Jingpohu Lake Management Committee and the Mudanjiang Municipal Bureau of Culture, Sports, Radio, Television, and Tourism, kicked off grandly. More than 2,000 runners from across the country and Russia's Far East gathered on the frozen lake, breaking through the bitter cold with passionate strides and staging a dialogue between speed and passion, will and nature on the serene and magnificent blue ice.

At 10:08 AM, the starting gun fired, and thousands of participants, clad in their "battle gear," shot off like arrows onto the ice, running in temperatures as low as nearly -30°C. Their figures traced a flowing line of scenery across the vast frozen lake. With the arrival of the era of mass winter sports, ice running has evolved from an extreme challenge for professional athletes to attracting more and more winter sports enthusiasts. The event was filled with excitement, featuring both agile professional runners and enthusiastic winter sports participants, all unleashing their passion for sports and chasing their ice and snow dreams amidst the frozen landscape.

As the world's largest volcanic barrier lake, Jingpohu Lake boasts not only abundant natural resources and profound cultural heritage but also serves as an exceptional destination for winter sports events due to its unique geographical environment and climatic conditions. In recent years, Jingpohu Lake has successfully hosted multiple national and provincial-level large-scale winter sports competitions, establishing a nationally influential sports tourism demonstration brand. The "Jingpohu Lake International Ice Running Challenge" has also risen to the ranks of national-level events. In October 2025, Jingpohu Lake Scenic Area was successfully selected as a 2025 China Sports Tourism Excellence Project, becoming the only scenic area in Heilongjiang Province to receive this honor. This year's event will once again provide a platform for national fitness and public winter sports, allowing runners and tourists from around the world to enjoy the ice and snow, unleash their energy, and deeply experience the exhilarating charm of winter sports alongside the rich cultural atmosphere of Mudanjiang!

The competition featured men's and women's divisions (20.26 km) as well as a fun run (5 km). After nearly two hours of intense competition, around 1:30 PM, the final athlete successfully crossed the finish line, marking the successful conclusion of Heilongjiang Province's first Ice and Snow Sports Super League and the China Jingpohu Lake Ice Run Challenge. Chen Yan from Mudanjiang claimed the men's championship with a time of 1 hour, 15 minutes, and 25 seconds, while Wu Guoying from Hegang secured the women's title with an outstanding performance of 1 hour, 32 minutes, and 19 seconds.
