Eight bowls of Manchu cuisine

Manchu eight bowls

The eight Manchu bowls are the standard configuration of Manchu folk banquets. They originated from Manchu farm dishes outside the Pass and were later integrated into court techniques. The eight bowls in Mudanjiang are served in large bowls, with solid portions and mellow taste. They usually include stir-fried small tofu with pickled vegetables, braised shrimps and tofu eggs, grilled pork knuckles, seared frogs, chick mushroom powder, New Year pig stew, Yufu spring fish, Ama Zun meat (braised elbow), etc. They are mainly salty and fresh, with a combination of meat and vegetables, reflecting the bold and honest style of Manchu cuisine. It is an indispensable banquet for wedding banquets, birthday banquets and other important events.
