Bohai Mohe embroidery

Bohai Mohe embroidery is a traditional folk craft spread among the Manchus in Northeast China, with a history of more than 1,300 years. It is the general name for Manchu embroidery in the Northeast region centered on Mudanjiang. It is one of China's outstanding national traditional crafts. In 2014, Manchu embroidery was officially included in the list of representative national intangible cultural heritage items. This embroidery uses tussah silk unique to the north as raw material, uses the triangular stitch method (formerly known as chicken claw stitch) originated from the Mohe people, and embroiders through four to eight layers of silk threads to form a thick three-dimensional effect, which is called "oil painting in embroidery". The Bohai Mohe Embroidery Production Base and Exhibition Hall in the jingpo Lake Scenic Area aims to promote this traditional skill with a history of thousands of years. The showroom is not only an exhibition space, but also integrates production, experience and cultural communication functions. Visitors can watch and even participate in the embroidery process up close.
