By the Jingpo Lake lies one of Heilongjiang's most stunning birdwatching spots! In March, migratory birds return north, presenting a breathtaking spectacle.

In March, as spring awakens in Longjiang, the annual natural spectacle unfolds in Bohai Town, Ning'an, Mudanjiang City—tens of thousands of migratory birds pause on their northward journey, their synchronized wings darkening the sky and their calls rumbling like thunder. The land and waters by Jingpo Lake have become the warmest "pit stop" on the birds' migration route and a wildly popular birdwatching hotspot in Heilongjiang.

The waters flowing from Jingpo Lake, carrying warmth from its depths, cause the ice here to melt earlier than downstream. By early to mid-March, the river already presents a poetic scene—half ice, half water. The still-chilly yet thawing waters provide a resting haven for the weary migratory birds.

Bohai Town is renowned for its slate-grown rice, and the leftover grains from the previous year's harvest serve as a natural "granary" for the birds. With a favorable climate, abundant water, and plentiful food, the area has become a vital resting spot for geese, ducks, herons, and countless other species during their migration, offering them a place to rest, feed, and replenish their energy for the continued journey north.

Mid-March is the prime time to observe geese. The birds dance gracefully across the land, their gatherings painting a vivid spring tableau.

The most enchanting moments unfold at dusk. Golden sunlight spills over the river, fiery clouds stretch across the horizon, and colorful streaks unfurl in the sky. Birds scattered across the fields for miles begin flocking toward the riverbank in waves. They soar and glide, their wingtips brushing the twilight, their calls echoing along the banks, celebrating the vitality of life and the harmony of nature.

Birdwatching Tips:

1. Maintain a safe distance while observing or photographing birds, and avoid loud noises or chasing them.

2. Wear muted, nature-blending colors to avoid startling the birds with bright attire.

3. Refrain from littering to protect the habitat and ensure this "pit stop" remains welcoming for years to come.
