Students from BFU College of Art and Design Conduct Research at Jingpo Lake


Recently, sophomore students majoring in Environmental Design from the College of Art and Design at Beijing Forestry University visited the Jingpo Lake scenic area to conduct a field study and research activity centered on ecological civilization. The picturesque landscape of Jingpo Lake served as a vivid classroom for the young students' "ecological aesthetic education."

This study trip broke the physical boundaries of traditional classrooms. The two practice teams from the Jingpo Lake Management Committee and Beijing Forestry University carried out parallel activities centered on "ecological advocacy" and "ecological science popularization," measuring the land with their footsteps and engaging with nature through their expertise in the real ecological setting of Jingpo Lake.

The first team set up their presentation booth right at the scenic area. Drawing on their expertise in environmental design, the students explained the profound concept that "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets" in simple terms, vividly highlighting Jingpo Lake’s critical ecological value in wetland conservation and biodiversity preservation. They also educated the public on low-carbon, eco-friendly lifestyles and the practical applications of sustainable landscape design. Through face-to-face interactive sessions, they transformed ecological principles into down-to-earth environmental advocacy, encouraging tourists to shift from being mere "bystanders" to active "participants" in ecological protection, thereby enriching the scenic area with a vibrant green cultural atmosphere.

Another team transformed into "ecological science educators," leveraging Jingpo Lake's unique natural resources to unveil the mysteries of volcanic geological succession and xerophytic plant community evolution to the public through on-site observations, plant species documentation, and illustrated explanations. The students paid special attention to the landscape intervention techniques employed by the scenic area under the principle of "protection first," analyzing how biomimetic design and ecological corridor construction minimize the impact of human activities on fragile ecosystems. The vivid and intuitive science displays allowed visitors to not only appreciate the beauty of nature but also deeply grasp the ecological wisdom of "following and respecting nature."

Young students visiting Jingpo Lake is not just an educational practice, but a mutual journey—Jingpo Lake nurtures their design inspiration with its landscapes, while they reciprocate with their expertise to give back to these green mountains and clear waters.
