To thoroughly implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and its plenary sessions, practice Xi Jinping's cultural thought, promote the public sharing and dynamic dissemination of archaeological achievements, and fulfill the deployment requirements of the National Cultural Heritage Administration regarding public archaeology, the Provincial Cultural Heritage Administration will host the Provincial Public Archaeology Week from August 24 to 30, 2026, under the theme "Exploring the Origins of Longjiang Civilization, Touching the History of the Black Soil."

This event will focus on key tasks such as cultural relic protection, archaeological research, digital preservation, and the fourth national cultural relics survey. Centered on the two major archaeological sites of the Upper Capital of the Bohai Kingdom and the Upper Capital of the Jin Dynasty, it will link with other nationally and provincially protected ancient ruins and tombs, including the ruins of Puyulu Ancient City, Xiaosifang Mountain Fortress, Guokui Mountain Fortress, Taowen Wanhu Prefecture, the Jin Dynasty Border Wall, the Mudanjiang Border Wall, and the Han-Wei period sites of the Sanjiang Plain. A series of thematic activities will be organized to showcase the fruitful achievements of archaeological excavations and cultural relic protection in the province, allowing the public to directly experience the profound cultural heritage and historical depth of the Black Soil region.

The event adheres to the principle of deep sharing of archaeological resources, strictly follows relevant norms for archaeological research and education, and offers diverse activities such as archaeological research practices, on-site archaeological experiences, thematic exhibitions of cultural relics, popular science lectures, and initiatives to bring archaeological and cultural relic protection into schools. These efforts aim to popularize archaeological knowledge and conservation concepts in an accessible manner, guiding the public to respect cultural relics and historical facts while effectively meeting the spiritual and cultural needs of the people. At the same time, in strict accordance with the regulations on the release of archaeological achievements, research findings will be disclosed in an orderly manner. Collaboration with publicity, cyberspace, and broadcasting departments will strengthen public opinion guidance, ensuring authoritative and standardized dissemination to embed archaeological culture deeply in the public consciousness.
