Xi Jinping emphasized that this year marks the centenary of the founding of the CPC. The world is undergoing profound changes unseen in a century, and China is at a critical period in realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. The CPC Central Committee believes that at this significant historical moment, comprehensively summarizing the major achievements and historical experience of the CPC's centennial struggle is of great significance in unifying the thinking of the entire Party, strengthening confidence, and forging ahead into the future; understanding historical laws, enhancing historical consciousness, and taking the initiative in history; and promoting the entire Party to remember its original mission and unite and lead people of all ethnic groups across the country to secure the great victory of socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era. Therefore, the CPC Central Committee has decided to dedicate a plenary session to comprehensively summarize the major achievements and historical experience of the CPC's centennial struggle.
Xi Jinping pointed out that in April, the CPC Central Committee entrusted the United Front Work Department to solicit opinions on the topics of the sixth plenary session of the 19th CPC Central Committee. The comrades put forward many valuable opinions and suggestions, which provided important reference for drafting the resolution. Just now, everyone spoke again, offering opinions on the major issues that need to be studied and resolved regarding upholding and strengthening the leadership of the CPC and the Party's construction, which we will carefully study and absorb. On behalf of the CPC Central Committee, I would like to express my gratitude to everyone.
Xi Jinping stressed that over the past century, the Communist Party of China (CPC) has held high the banner of great unity and solidarity, continuously consolidating and developing the broadest possible united front, rallying all forces that can be united, and mobilizing all positive factors that can be mobilized. The CPC has given full play to the important role of the united front as a key instrument, gradually established the principle of "long-term coexistence, mutual oversight, sincere treatment with each other, and the sharing of both glory and disgrace" for multi-party cooperation, developed socialist consultative democracy and a new type of political party system, and led and assisted the democratic parties and personages without party affiliation in actively playing their roles and making continuous progress on the political development path of socialism with Chinese characteristics. History shows that the CPC's century-long struggle includes a history of concerted efforts with the democratic parties, working together sincerely and advancing hand in hand. The democratic parties have always shared the same breath and fate with the country and the nation, standing together through thick and thin with the CPC. It is hoped that everyone will gain a deep understanding of the CPC's major achievements and historical experience in its century-long struggle, carry forward the glorious tradition of close cooperation with the CPC, uphold a correct view of history, the overall situation, and development, and continuously consolidate the common ideological and political foundation for multi-party cooperation.
