Xinhua News Agency, Xiongan New Area, Hebei, May 10 - Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, President of the State, and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, inspected Xiongan New Area in Hebei Province on the 10th. He chaired a symposium on advancing the construction of Xiongan New Area with high standards and high quality, delivering an important speech. He emphasized that Xiongan New Area has entered a stage where large-scale construction and the transfer of Beijing's non-capital functions are equally prioritized. The focus of work has shifted to high-quality construction, high-level management, and high-quality development through the transfer of functions. He called for firm confidence, steady determination, and pragmatic efforts to achieve continuous progress in all endeavors.

Li Qiang, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and premier of the State Council, Cai Qi, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and director of the General Office of the CPC Central Committee, and Ding Xuexiang, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and vice premier of the State Council, accompanied Xi on the inspection tour and attended the symposium.

On May 10, accompanied by Ni Yuefeng, Secretary of the Hebei Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), and Wang Zhengpu, Governor of Hebei Province, Xi Jinping conducted an inspection tour of the Xiongan New Area, visiting the high-speed railway station, communities, and construction sites, among others, to advance the construction of the new area with high standards and quality.

In the morning of the day, Xi took a high-speed train to the Xiongan New Area and first inspected the construction and operation of Xiongan Railway Station upon arrival. As the first major infrastructure project launched in the new area, the station is of symbolic significance. Xi inspected the platform, the waiting hall, and the square outside the station, and learned about the construction and operation of the station as well as the planning and construction of the Zangang area where the station is located. Xi pointed out that Xiongan Railway Station is a hub station of the Xiongan New Area, and efforts should be made to further improve the "micro circulation" of transport connecting the station and the new area, and enhance the efficiency of passenger and logistics gathering and distribution. The Zangang area should be built into a high-end and high-tech industrial cluster, so that visitors can immediately feel the modern atmosphere of the Xiongan New Area upon arrival.

Xi then went to Nanwenying Community in Rongdong area by car. The community has accommodated over 5,000 relocated residents from Anxin and Rongcheng counties. Xi visited the community's Party-mass service center and canteen, where he talked with community workers, residents handling affairs, and elderly people dining there. He carefully checked the records of residents' conditions and spoke highly of the community's convenient services for the elderly. Xi stressed that he has always been concerned about the relocated residents, and he feels gratified to see them living a good life. To build the Xiongan New Area well, it is important to link comfortable living with gainful employment to ensure that residents can live in stability, comfort and with promising prospects. Modernization of urban governance should be advanced simultaneously, and efforts should be made from the very beginning to make the city as exquisitely as embroidery. Equal access to basic public services should be actively promoted to build a "people's city" suitable for living and working in the new era.

Xi visited the home of Li Jinghe, a relocated resident. Li told Xi that he moved into his new home in November 2021, and the spacious and bright apartment makes him feel very comfortable, and his life is getting better and better. Xi stressed that the building of the Xiongan New Area is a major strategic decision made by the CPC Central Committee, and the residents have contributed to the implementation of the national strategy by responding to the call of the country and actively cooperating with the move. He encouraged the younger generation to strengthen confidence, learn skills, and benefit their hometown in the process of building a strong country and national rejuvenation, and to be builders and successors of the socialist cause.

At the time of departure, residents enthusiastically hailed "Hello, General Secretary," and Xi waved back to them. He said affectionately that Hebei is a place where he once worked, and he has deep affection for the place. It is his wish to see the place thrive. The building of the Xiongan New Area is a project of millennial significance and a national strategy. We should neither be impetuous nor wait for things to happen, but should make solid efforts and persevere for long-term results.

The Xiong'an Intercity Station Hub is located at the core of the Xiong'an New Area's startup zone. Xi Jinping visited the construction site of the Xiong'an Intercity Station and the International Trade Center project, where he reviewed the model, ascended the platform, surveyed the construction site from afar, and learned about the progress of major infrastructure projects and key relocation projects in the startup zone. Xi Jinping emphasized that transportation is the lifeblood of a modern city. Only when the lifeblood flows smoothly can the city develop healthily. In the afternoon, Xi Jinping visited the Xiongan Hall of the Xiongan Convention and Exhibition Center, where he was briefed on the overall progress of the planning and construction of Xiongan New Area through scale models and video presentations. He also learned about the ecological environment management and protection of Baiyangdian Lake, including dredging, desilting, and the interconnection of its lakes. Xi emphasized that the ecological management and protection of Baiyangdian Lake benefit both current and future generations, requiring comprehensive planning and steady advancement.

Subsequently, Xi Jinping presided over a symposium on advancing the construction of Xiongan New Area with high standards and quality in the multifunctional hall on the third floor of the Convention and Exhibition Center. Zheng Shanjie, Director of the National Development and Reform Commission, Ni Yuefeng, Secretary of the Hebei Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, and Zhang Guohua, Secretary of the Party Working Committee of Xiongan New Area, delivered speeches successively. The principal leaders of China Satellite Network Group Co., Ltd. and China State Construction Engineering Corporation submitted written statements.

After listening to the speeches, Xi Jinping delivered an important address. He emphasized that under the strong leadership of the CPC Central Committee and with the strong support of central authorities and regions like Beijing and Tianjin, Hebei Province has actively fulfilled its primary responsibilities, while the Party Working Committee and Management Committee of Xiongan New Area have earnestly carried out their local duties, advancing various tasks solidly and achieving significant phased results in the construction of Xiongan New Area. Xi Jinping emphasized the need to fully, accurately, and comprehensively implement the Party Central Committee's strategic plans for the construction of the Xiongan New Area.
