Diaoshuilou Waterfall

The Diaoshuilou Waterfall is one of China's top three waterfalls and the world's largest basalt lava collapse-type waterfall. Located 3 km north of Jingpohu's North Lake Villa, it is the most famous natural attraction in the Jingpohu Lake scenic area. During normal water levels, the waterfall typically spans 50-60 meters in width with a drop of 12 meters. However, in flood season, it presents a spectacular sight with water cascading from three sides, forming multiple streams of varying heights and reaching a maximum width of over 300 meters. The lake water plunges into the Black Dragon Pool from the southern, western, and northern sides with overwhelming force from the top of the lava cliffs. Resembling clouds of snow, the mist sprays in all directions, drenching visitors even a hundred meters away; like a galaxy pouring down or a colorful ribbon suspended in mid-air, it roars with unstoppable momentum. Especially after rain, under clear skies and bright sunshine, vibrant rainbows often appear, adding a dazzling highlight to the majestic waterfall. A poem praises it as "a thousand piles of snow flying down, thunder echoing through autumn for miles."

In winter, Diaoshuilou Waterfall presents another rare spectacle of pure beauty—the ice waterfall. The roaring cascade gradually freezes into a crystal-clear, ribbon-like curtain suspended from the cliff, shimmering under the winter sun. Surrounded by frost-covered trees and misty rime, with the unfrozen Black Dragon Pool murmuring year-round amid ethereal haze, the scene resembles a dreamy "Frozen" fairyland.
