Yaoshi Ancient Temple

The Yaoshi Ancient Temple is located on Longquan Mountain in the dock area of Jingpohu Lake Villa, nestled against the mountain and overlooking the water, facing west with an eastward orientation. It features a courtyard-style architectural complex. Constructed in June 1995, the temple comprises the Heavenly King Hall, Bell and Drum Towers, Guanyin Hall, Ksitigarbha Hall, Qielan Hall, and the Yaoshi Treasure Hall.

The Yaoshi Ancient Temple is the sacred site of the Seven Medicine Buddhas of Lapis Lazuli Light, with origins tracing back to the Esoteric Buddhism of the ancient Bohai Kingdom over 1,300 years ago. Artifacts and written records discovered at the "Shangjing Longquan Fu" ruins in Bohai Town confirm the existence of eleven temples in the capital during the ancient Bohai period. Notably, the surviving large stone Buddha, stone lantern pagoda, and Eight-Treasure Lapis Lazuli Well stand as historical testaments to the esoteric practices of the Medicine Buddha of Lapis Lazuli Light. The excavation of relics in Bohai Town in 1975 and 1997 further validated this site as the sacred ground of the Medicine Buddha a millennium ago. The Yaoshi Ancient Temple is a spiritually vibrant cultural sanctuary, featuring seven halls enshrining thirty-one Buddhist deities. Its majestic architecture, distinctive bell and drum towers, and the auspicious Dharma instruments—the "Auspicious Bell" and the "Underworld Drum"—embody profound religious significance. Known as the Disaster-Relieving and Life-Extending Medicine Buddha, Yaoshi Fo is believed to protect all beings, enabling them to "avert calamities, overcome suffering, attain happiness, enjoy longevity and well-being, and fulfill their wishes."
