The 2nd Volcanic Geopark Forum 2018 opened at the Leiqiong Global Geopark. The theme of this forum focuses on volcanic heritage and sustainable development in global geoparks. It aims to establish a communication platform for professionals in management, construction, scientific research, and public education related to volcanic geoparks worldwide. The forum seeks to comprehensively promote the protection, management, and utilization of volcanic geoparks, foster long-term cooperative relationships among stakeholders, and further enhance the domestic and international reputation and influence of the Leiqiong Global Geopark. Additionally, it strives to accelerate the sustainable development of the Leiqiong Global Geopark and Haikou's tourism industry, contributing actively to the protection and advancement of geological heritage in China and globally.

The forum invited around 150 experts and scholars in volcanic geology research, including representatives from the UNESCO Global Geoparks Council, the China National Geopark Network Center, and the European Geoparks Network. With the theme of "Protection, Development, and Sustainable Development of Volcanic Geoparks," the forum aimed to establish a platform for communication among professionals in management, construction, scientific research, and public education related to volcanic geoparks worldwide. It seeks to comprehensively promote the protection, management, and utilization of volcanic geoparks globally, foster long-term cooperative development beneficial to all parties, and contribute actively to the protection and development of geological heritage in China and beyond.
