Professor Jianping Zhang from China University of Geosciences (Beijing):
As a UNESCO Global Geopark, Jingpohu’s core value lies in its well-preserved natural records of intraplate volcanic activity and landform evolution, making it a crucial global reference for related research. This significance has been widely recognized by UNESCO and the international geological community:
1. Scientific Value of the Geoheritage
Jingpohu Lake retains a complete geological sequence of "volcanic eruption—lava flow—damming lake formation—water erosion—ecological succession," encompassing diverse geoheritage types such as volcanic cones, lava plateaus, lava tube clusters, and crater forests.
2. Key Priorities for Geoheritage Conservation
The conservation of Jingpohu’s geoheritage focuses on "primitive ecological protection + scientific monitoring," with key protected targets including lava tubes, volcanic crater rock masses, and the surrounding ecosystem.
3. Synergistic Significance of Science Popularization and Conservation
Jingpohu Lake Geopark serves not only as a scientific research base but also as a vital platform for public geological education.
