Affected by continuous rainfall brought by Typhoon Bavi, water levels in the Jingpo Lake basin have risen for consecutive days, creating a severe flood control situation in the scenic area. Responding immediately to the flood alert, the Jingpo Lake Landscape & Sanitation Center has maintained round-the-clock operations, fully implementing all flood control and emergency rescue measures to safeguard scenic facilities and tourist safety.
Sustained heavy rainfall caused extensive flooding on the main road at the North Gate of Jingpo Lake Scenic Area. The scenic area first adjusted tourist routes in a timely manner and later issued a notice of temporary closure. When drainage facilities at the public restroom near the East Gate suffered sudden damage, the Landscape & Sanitation Center activated emergency response without delay. While diverting visitors to nearby restrooms, professional teams were arranged to cut off power, cordon off the site and carry out equipment repairs. Normal operation of the restroom was restored within only two hours.
Patrols and on-duty surveillance were intensified simultaneously. During embankment inspections led by person-in-charges, potential collapse risks were identified on the rehabilitated section of the Waterfall View Bridge. Staff immediately covered the area with tarpaulins and compacted it with earth and stone to prevent further erosion by rainwater. Cadres and workers filled sandbags in the rain and transported them in batches to flood control positions at the North Gate for emergency standby.
In the early hours of the 15th, the lake water level rose again. The Jingpo Lake Landscape & Sanitation Center coordinated with the organ departments of the Jingpo Lake Administrative Committee to guarantee flood control supplies. All staff were assigned tasks to fill and transport sandbags, delivering flood prevention materials accurately to key flood-prone areas including the North Gate Complex.
On the same day, floodwater rose 50 centimeters above the platform of the Air Dome Stadium in the scenic area’s Culture and Sports Center, causing extensive waterlogging inside the venue. Water seeped into the blower power box, posing a major risk of air dome collapse. The emergency rescue team immediately set up water pumps for round-the-clock drainage and erected elevated standby power lines to keep the blowers running. Staff continuously carried sandbags to block the gate of the stadium, minimizing backflow floodwater and securing the venue facilities.
The Jingpo Lake Landscape & Sanitation Center will continue to closely monitor meteorological conditions and water level changes. Adhering to a bottom-line mindset, the center will earnestly carry out flood prevention, disaster reduction and work on work safety within the scenic area. It will further increase inspection frequency for public restrooms at the East Gate and Hongluonü Square, and stock up on maintenance accessories such as water pipes and sanitary ware in advance. Flood control supplies including sandbags, tarpaulins and water pumps will be maintained at adequate levels on a regular basis. The center will refine supporting measures for landscape and sanitation services during flood seasons, making every effort to ensure the scenic area weathers the flood season safely and smoothly.
