The crater underground forest is located on the southern slope of Zhangguangcai Ridge at an altitude of 710-1070 meters. Due to the Himalayan orogeny one million years ago, a faulted ancient lake basin was formed in the jingpo Lake area. In the northwest, the late jingpo volcanic group continued to erupt. Around 5140 years ago, the eruption formed 16 majestic and steep volcanic craters. Because of the lush virgin forest growing in the crater, it is called the "underground forest".

The dark volcanic rock walls surround the deep valley floor, towering ancient trees rise from the ground, and waves of pine waves roll over the edge of the crater, hiding hundreds of millions of years of geological vicissitudes into the layers of greenery. The forests here are lush, with ancient pines, lindens, and ash trees intertwined at random. The branches and leaves cover the sky and the sun. The sunlight shines through the gaps between the branches and leaves, and sprinkles fine golden spots. The streams in the forest are gurgling, the birds are singing crisply, and the air is filled with the refreshing fragrance of the vegetation. Standing on the crater viewing platform, you can see 16 craters scattered in a staggered arrangement, and the forest at the bottom of the valley is vast. It is both majestic and majestic after the volcanic eruption, and quiet and quiet of the virgin forest. It is like a secret picture hidden in the mountains, fully displaying the uncanny craftsmanship of nature and the tenacity of life.
